Anthropic launches a new AI model that “thinks” as long as you want
Anthropic's Claude 3.7 Sonnet is the first hybrid AI reasoning model, offering both real-time and in-depth answers. It reduces unnecessary refusals, improves coding accuracy, and includes Claude Code, an agentic coding tool. Available via API and premium plans, it competes with OpenAI and others in the evolving AI landscape.

ElevenLabs is launching its own speech-to-text model
ElevenLabs, valued at $3.3 billion, launched Scribe, its first stand-alone speech-to-text model, supporting 99+ languages with high accuracy. It outperforms Google’s Gemini 2.0 Flash and Whisper Large V3. Scribe offers speaker diarization, timestamping, and auto-tagging but only works with pre-recorded audio. Pricing starts at $0.40 per hour of transcription.
Former OpenAI CTO Murati’s new AI startup reportedly closing in on $9B valuation
Thinking Machines Lab, founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, aims to raise $1 billion at a $9 billion valuation. The startup has recruited ex-OpenAI researchers and focuses on open-source AI. If successful, it would join the trend of early-stage AI startups securing massive funding and unicorn status within months.
AI startup Anthropic finalizing $3.5 billion funding round
Anthropic is finalizing a $3.5 billion funding round at a $61.5 billion valuation, backed by Lightspeed, General Catalyst, and MGX. Originally seeking $2 billion, the AI startup increased its raise amid strong investor demand. Despite competition from DeepSeek, Anthropic remains a key OpenAI rival, with annualized revenue hitting $1.2 billion.
